Croc and Bird
Croc and Bird are unexpected, unlikely brothers.
Hatching out of their adjacent eggs on the same fine morning, they are left to their own devices to make their ways in the world.
They each greet the sun, share a nest home, and learn each other's habits.
One day, they find a group of other birds in the trees and other crocodiles on the ground. They realise they aren't brothers after all, and part ways.
But their quirky habits they've adopted keep them from integrating and they miss each other. Will they decide to stay together?
Chair Pose - Utkatasana
Bird hatches out of his egg first.
Begin in child's pose as though you're in your egg. Stretch your arms forward and breathe in. Sit up with your arms up, and come to standing. Bend your ankles, your knees and your hips as you spread your wings for the first time!
Croc and Bird reunite up in the top of the tree.
Ground your feet well into the floor. Breathe in and raise one foot to balance against the standing leg, and raise your arms. Breathe in and out a few times there, focusing on a still point (drushti). Swap legs and try it on the other side.
Locust - Salabhasana
Begin in child's pose. When Croc hatches out of his egg, he needs to stretch both forward - reaching your arms - and back - stretching your legs. Lie on your belly and lift your limbs as you breathe in, bringing them down together as you breathe out with a 'Snap!' Try lifting and lowering two more times.
Croc and Bird greet the sun with a song in the morning.
Try the sun salutation series of poses to represent greeting the new day.
Lotus - Sukhasana
Bird builds a nest for the brothers while Croc is sleeping.
Sit in Lotus position. Breathe in, and spread your arms wide, leaning forward with your chest open. This is Bird going forth and getting bits for the nest. As you breathe out, curl up into a ball. This is Bird building at the nest. Practice the flow of the open/out and closed/in movements along with your breathing.
